Hanson Pressure Pipe names Mike Leathers Senior Vice President

Company Strengthens Force and Operation

(IRVING, TEXAS) -- Continuing its drive as North America’s premier pressure pipe manufacturer, Hanson Pressure Pipe named Mike Leathers, senior vice president of the company effective January 1, 2009. Leathers previously served as Senior Vice President of Sales for Hanson Pressure Pipe and the South Central Region of Hanson Pipe & Precast. In his new role, Leathers reports to Richard Manning, President of Hanson Building Products.

“Hanson has remained stable a midst a difficult period in the manufacturing industry and through this transition and adjustment of operations,” said Richard Manning, president of Hanson Building Products North America. “Mike has the energy, innovation and commercial background to evolve Hanson Pressure Pipe into the 21st century.”

Hanson Pressure Pipe is a leading provider of concrete steel and steel pressure pipe and employs more than 1,100 people. The company was established from Hanson Building Products North America’s Hanson Pipe & Precast division after its acquisition of Price Brothers Company and Hyprescon, two prominent pressure pipe companies.

“Hanson is an organization of valuable and knowledgeable industry experts and I am honored to be placed amongst such leaders,” said Mike Leathers, senior vice president of Hanson Pressure Pipe. “I am confident that through effective management and operation, my team and I will continue to position this company and prepare for a market upturn.”

Leathers managed the integration of several acquired companies at Hanson Pipe & Precast and simultaneously served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for both Hanson Pipe & Precast and Hanson Pressure Pipe, overseeing the entire sales organization throughout the U.S. and Canada for Hanson Pressure Pipe and the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas for Hanson Pipe & Precast.

Leathers attended The University of Texas at Arlington, where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration. Serving more than 15 years in the building and concrete industry, he previously held management positions at premier companies such as Pioneer Concrete Inc. throughout Texas and Australia and Rinker Group Limited in Denver, Colo., bringing several successful initiatives and practices into fruition.
