Co-operation agreement between Sandvik and Meyco kicks off successfully

Nov, 26 2009

(Sandviken, Sweden) -- Global mining machiney manufacturer Sandvik Mining and Construction and BASF's unit MEYCO signed an agreement relating to global cooperation in the fields of tunnelling and mining.

In a first step, the two companies have agreed to initiate joint operations for spare parts management and the service and maintenance of machines for sprayed concrete. MEYCO is a leader in this sector

The new cooperation has been launched in different parts of the world, and this is a process that will continue. To date, the cooperation has been established Northern Europe, Southern Europe, the US, Canada and Mexico.

"Both organizations have enthusiastically welcomed this partnership, and I feel confident that customers will do the same once the process has been completed. The customer benefits and the advantages for both parties in the agreement are obvious. The cooperation is an excellent means of improving customer service and the companies can jointly offer a broader range of machines with enhanced spare parts and maintenance availability." explained Jarmo Manninen, Aftermarket Offering and Project Manager at the Construction Segment of Sandvik Mining and Construction.

The global launch of the cooperation will continue in Eastern Asia, Western Asia and Australia Pacific. Practical implementation will be conducted on a step-by-step basis - each country will introduce the relevant service to customers according to their specialized schedule.

"We already list the prices of our equipment and services together. BASF's main interest lies in selling chemical products and solutions for concrete production, whereas Sandvik specializes in supplying machines and related services for the mining and construction industries. The global launch of the co-operation continues in Eastern Asia, Western, Asia and Australia Pacific, and South America. I wish to emphasize, though, that BASF Construction Chemicals will still sell the MEYCO equipment, not Sandvik. According to the agreement, Sandvik's responsibilities include spare parts management, service and warranty handling," says Manninen.
