Australia's Boral appoints new head of US operations

Feb, 04 2010

(Sydney, Australia) -- Australian building products firm Boral Ltd has named a new president of its United States operations following the appointment of former president Emery Severin as chief executive of New Zealand's Nuplex Industries Ltd.

Mike Kane, former chief executive of US brick manufacturer Calstar Products, will replace Mr Severin at the end of February.

Mr Severin was on Thursday named Nuplex's new chief executive and managing director, with his new role to commence in April.

He joined Boral in 1996 and had been president of Boral USA since August 2004.

Boral chief executive Mike Selway thanked Mr Severin for his leadership over 14 years.

"Emery has made a significant contribution to Boral, particularly in the construction materials operations in Australia and managing the US business through the most difficult period in Boral's history," Mr Selway said.

"I am very pleased to welcome Mike to Boral's senior management team.

"Mike has a deep knowledge of the US building and construction materials industry and he is very well placed to lead Boral's US businesses as they recover from the current economic downturn."

A replacement is yet to be announced for Boral's chief financial officer Ken Barton, who will depart in March.

Mr Selway took over from former chief Rod Pearse on January 1.
