CANCER-FIGHTING CONCRETE TRUCKS COMING TO OHIO

Mar, 09 2010

Smith Concrete, a Division of Shelly Materials, will use two cancer-fighting concrete trucks primarily at job sites in Washington and Guernsey counties this spring. The trucks also will travel to jobs in Athens, Coshocton, Morgan, Muskingum and Perry counties in Ohio, as well as locations in West Virginia.

The trucks will carry the American Cancer Society's logos for the next five years. Drivers of both trucks will wear pink hard hats and carry the society's cancer information in their cabs. One truck will be painted pink, the other light blue, and both will feature American Cancer Society logos.

In 2009, the American Cancer Society provided free help to 89 families in Coshocton County and 441 families in Muskingum County. The society is on pace to help more families in these communities this year. Assistance provided includes free lodging, support groups, answers to treatment and insurance questions, focused help for breast cancer and prostate cancer patients, travel to treatment, and overall assistance throughout the cancer journey.

Local help comes from local support of Relay For Life, community-based events that are the world's largest movement to end cancer. Coshocton County's 24-hour relay event will be May 14.
