Apr, 17 2012
(Caribbean) -- Workers at the Caribbean Cement Company are contemplating taking strike action similar to that of workers employed at the Trinidad Cement Limited who have been on strike since February.
This after the management of Caribbean Cement failed to satisfy their demands for a new wage agreement at a meeting with the National Workers Union, NWU
NWU Vice President, Granville Valentine says the Caribbean Cement management yesterday placed on the table among other things a proposal of a lump sum payment and an adjustment in travelling.
Another meeting is set for next week Wednesday april 18 at the Ministry of Labour.
The workers staged a sit-in a week ago.
