Holly Hill cement plant recognized for safety record

(Chicago) -- An Orangeburg cement plant received a national award for safety at a meeting in Chicago last week.
Holcim Inc.’s Holly Hill facility earned the Chairman’s Safety Performance Award from the Portland Cement Association at the association’s spring meeting April 16.
The Holly Hill plant achieved its safety record in 2011 among plants that used more than 256,001 employee hours.
“Working to continuously improve their workplace, employees at the Holcim plant set a standard for safety excellence that promotes safety and health protections throughout the year,” PCA President and CEO Brian McCarthy said.
