Holcim donates Cooper Field Land

(Clarksville, MO.)  --  Holcim (US) Inc. announced this week that it has donated approximately five acres of land adjacent to its plant site in Clarksville to the City of Clarksville for its continued use as a youth baseball field. This parcel of land had previously been leased by the city.

“We have been a partner with the community surrounding our Clarksville plant for many years,” said
Bernard Terver, president and chief executive officer of Holcim (US). “The donation of this parcel of land provides an opportunity for the children of Clarksville and the surrounding communities to continue taking part in activities the City embraces.”

Clarksville Mayor Jo Anne Smiley called the land donation generous.

“(It) makes possible financial opportunities, including grants, which are unavailable without city ownership,” Smiley explained. “The plans for upgrading and continued use of this field will now likely be more secure and thus a brighter future for the Clarksville Athletic Association and the many children who will benefit from its use.”
The property is named “Cooper Field’ as a tribute to Mr. Thurmond Cooper, a local Clarksville businessman and resident who started the field in the 1960s.
