Lafarge appoints new CEO of India operations

(India) -- French cement major Lafarge today said it has appointed Martin Kriegner as the Chief Executive for its India operations.
Kriegner will be responsible for all of Lafarge's cement, aggregates and concrete activities in the country, the company said in a statement.
The appointment comes in the wake of the company's plans to refocus on its core businesses - cement, aggregates and concrete -and prioritise innovation to bring added value to customers by offering not only products but more and more services as well as integrated solutions for construction, it said.
"By combining all of our activities together, we will be able to support this evolution by offering integrated and innovative solutions at an earlier stage of construction in close proximity with our customers, allowing the full benefits of our innovative products and services to be realised," Kriegner said.
Kriegner, an Austrian citizen, joined the company in 1990 and became the Chief Executive of Lafarge Perlmooser AG, in 1998 before he moved to India as Head of thecement activity in 2002.
Prior to this assignment, he served as Regional President, based in Kuala Lumpur. He has a Doctorate of Law and an MBA from Austrian universities, the release said.
"My ambition, alongside that of the team, is to make Lafarge India the best company in the sector in terms of safety, cost, branding, quality, delivery, people development and last but not least sustainable innovation. We want to fully focus our business on our markets and needs of our customers, driving increased value through innovation to ensure we remain at the forefront when customers are looking for construction solutions," he added.
