Jun, 21 2012
(Mumbai, India) -- The Sahar police arrested a 45-year-old driver of a concrete mixer vehicle reportedly for rash and negligent driving killing a 21-year-old labourer in the parking area of Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) on Tuesday around 10.40 am.
Police said that the accused Pradipsingh Pachu Singh claimed that he lost his control of the vehicle while crossing at level one of the multi-level car parking at the airport. He was arrested from the spot and was produced before the court. Later he was released on bail.
The other labourers present at the spot of incident rushed the victim Cyber Ansari to a nearby Medicare hospital where he was declared dead on admission. "Ansari was walking in the parking area when the vehicle hit him and was run over by the rear tyre. He died of multiple injuries on his head and right limbs," said Sahar police senior inspector Jaiprakash Giram.
Giram said that Singh was not in inebriated conditions while driving the heavy vehicle. "He lost control of his vehicle which knocked down Ansari and his right body portion was crushed under the rear tyre," he said.
The accused is booked under IPC sections for rash driving and causing death due to negligence.
