Jul, 11 2012

(India)  --  The Mehrbhaan Police has unearthed a factory manufacturing fake cement.

The incident came to light on Sunday when police raided and sealed the factory allegedly manufacturing cement in Gonsgarh village.

Inderjeet Singh SHO said: “We had a tip-off that this factory was manufacturing fake cement and packing it in bags that bore stickers of well known cement manufacturing units like ACC. We raided the unit and found a truck loaded with such bags ready to leave the unit. Apart from this we also found a large number of empty bags that has stickers of these well known companies.”

By the time the police reached the unit, the owners and the manager of the unit had fled the spot. The police have booked Sohan Singh the owner of the unit and Vinod Kumar the manager of the unit for cheating and infringing copyright laws. The police have sent samples of cement being manufactured at this unit for testing.

“ We called Kamal Johar, an official of ACC cement, who verified that the so called cement being manufactured at this unit was fake and that when used in construction of homes, this cement could lead to building collapse,” said SHO Inderjeet Singh.
