Childs elected chairman of NRMCA board

William F. “Bill” Childs, IV, president and CEO of Gambrills-based Chaney Enterprises, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of National Ready Mixed Concrete Association.

In his new position, Childs will play a key leadership role in a large and growing industry that employs approximately 175,000 people who produced 300 million cubic yards of concrete in 2012 with a sales volume of approximately $48 billion.

Long active with the Silver Spring-based NRMCA, Childs joined Chaney Enterprises in 1992 as vice president of sales and marketing, and has led the company as president and CEO since 2000. A native of Towson he resides in southern Anne Arundel County and holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Lynchburg College in Virginia.

Childs is also a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors and past president of the Maryland Ready Mix Concrete Association.
