Excellent opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer joining the Corporate Engineering team. This exempt position will report to the Director of Capital Projects and Technology and will be responsible for providing engineering services and technical support to operations at facilities as well as several Capital Projects.
Responsibilities include:
•Provide engineering services and technical support to operations and maintenance at production facilities as needed; Cement, Aggregates, Ready-Mix concrete, Block and Terminals.
•Supervise a variety of Capital Projects in the Business Unit from the scoping phase to full implementation and commissioning.
•Establish a strong engineering support environment within Corporate Engineering for the production facilities.
•Conduct structural assessments of civil structures at facilities and develop engineering recommendations and cost estimates for structures with deficiencies.
•Manage and provide engineering services for the civil engineering related to capital projects including geotechnical investigations, foundation design, concrete structural design, roadways, drainage structures, sanitary systems, buildings.
•Conduct NRMCA Plant certification inspections for ready-mix plants.
•Assist operating units in preparing Civil Engineering cost estimates to support capital budget requests for improvements at the cement plants, ready mix sites, cement terminals, and ash processing facilities.
•Assist the business units and purchasing group in preparation of bid documents and technical specifications for the civil engineering portions of capital and expense projects such as building improvements, new roadways, improvements to existing production structures and new production facilities.
Qualifications and experience:
•Bachelor of Science degree in Civil engineering or related fields is required.
•8-10 years of proven experience in Civil Engineering in the aggregates, cement or related heavy industry.
•5-8 years of proven experience in the construction of significant projects in an industrial environment.
•Ability to obtain professional engineering license.
•Intermediate proficiency in computer software – MS Office, Excel, MS-Project, and AutoCAD
•Excellent communication skills – listening, oral, written (report writing), and presentation.
•Ability to utilize an objective approach to problem solving, building line and staff support, and effective negotiation skills.
