Objective:
Work in a group environment to create and maintain short-, intermediate-, and long-term mine plans for all Lafarge East US Aggregate Sites to achieve maximum value to Lafarge through the optimum utilization of aggregate reserves.
Responsibilities:

Mine Planning:
-
Assist in the development and maintenance of 3D Geologic Models of assigned Quarries using planning software.

Coordinate with management, various departments, or consultants to develop Life of Mine plans for assigned quarries.

Coordinate with management, various departments, or consultants to develop short and intermediate term plans for assigned quarries.
-
Develop mining schedules and annual volumes by bench for assigned quarries (short term plans).
-
Generate appropriate maps and illustrations necessary as directed to effectively communicate mine plans and schedules.
-
Generate short term schedule maps with appropriate volumes by bench (annually).
-
Coordinate and lead periodic reviews of mine plans for updating and revision.
-
Revise any and all mine plans when necessary.

Maps and Illustrations: Assist Land Managers by developing maps and illustrations needed for land issues and rezoning matters.
-
Due Diligence: Provide technical support (geologic modeling and mine planning) to management for due diligence efforts regarding potential acquisitions and greenfields.

Stripping Technical Support: Provide technical evaluation in support of annual stripping reviews and development of stripping programs.

Reserve Evaluations: Generate reserve evaluations annually or more frequently to support company reporting and performance indicators.

Land Management Support: Participate and contribute to the Land Management team in its organization, operations and implementation of Land Management best practices.

Data Maintenance: Assist in entering and maintaining mining and geology data in the Land Information System and in supporting an organized mining and geology file system.

Vendor Management: Interact with external service providers as necessary and instructed.

Other: Any other assistance concerning mine planning, geology, or operations as required.

Specific Accountabilities:

Quarry Safety in the area of design and configuration of Quarry or pit.

Qualification Profile:
Education and Work Experience:
-
An undergraduate degree in Mining Engineering, or Geological Sciences
-
A minimum 3 to 8 years relevant experience
Knowledge and Skills:
-
Knowledge of mining methods and appropriate planning techniques.
-
Knowledge of industrial Geology pertaining to aggregates.
-
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Carlson, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
-
Ability to learn Lafarge’s QMS/MineCad program.
-
Problem solving and analytical skills.

Must be familiar with state, provincial, and governmental regulations as well as material specifications.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
