Position Summary:
The Controller shall act as a key member of the plant management team in making business decisions. The incumbent will provide analysis and judgment to ensure that plant activities are reflected accurately in the financial statements.
Key Responsibilities Results/Accountabilities

Critical review of financial statements to validate against business performance; initiates material corrections

Critical review of capital expenditure requests to validate assumptions used in EVA/IRR calculation

Support line management in creation of performance plans

Review and update plant budgets, forecasts and Product Costing.

Perform standard and ad hoc performance analysis for line management

Recommend business actions based on financial analysis

Ensure that financial reporting is consistent w/ GAAP and with Lafarge Accounting Policy

Provide key financial data and analysis for monthly reporting package
-
Support plant manager in maintaining a strong local internal control structure

Reconcile applicable balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
-
Facilitate accurate and smooth processing of transactions (purchasing, A/P, Shipping, Mfg Accounting, etc.) at the plant

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas

Travel requirements: 15%

Achievement of plant performance plan (e.g. BC, ME., Usage optimization)

Achievement of annual fixed cost budget

Influence Plant Managers on tactical and strategic business decisions to improve performance

Compliance with Divisional close cycle and reporting requirements

Accurate Forecasts

Certify plant Internal Controls on a yearly basis (assist with Self Testing)

Compliant usage of common system tools (ERP)

Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge

Qualification Profile:
Education and Work Experience:
-
Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting
-
Minimum 5-8 years of financial management experience with increasing responsibility

Professional accounting designation required (CMA, CGA, CPA or CA)

MBA an asset
Knowledge and Skills:
-
Extensive manufacturing background or equivalent industry experience
-
Demonstrated financial/business analysis skills
-
Strong E-One/ERP Business Intelligence skills

Moderate knowledge of the theory and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills

Ability to work independently

Moderate knowledge of E-One/ERP
