Title:   GL Financial Accountant

Position Summary:

The Financial Accountant is responsible for performing transactional activities for the full range of SSC customers while ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial data. The incumbent will execute his/ her work in compliance with US GAAP, IFRS (as applicable), Lafarge accounting policies and control procedures. Furthermore, the incumbent will actively participate in the internal and external compliance effort(s) of the Service Centre.

   

  Key Responsibilities                                                                                            Results/Accountabilities

  • Perform required tasks to ensure the orderly and timely financial close at the appropriate intervals (monthly, quarterly,annual),
  • Perform assigned General Ledger Account Reconciliations, variance analysis and commentary (as required),
  • Identify and escalate any reconciliation items,  financial discrepancies and/or issues in a timely, process improvement driven manner,
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information (E-One reports) for Finance Community,
  • Coordinate the processing of budget and forecast data E-One,
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations as per company’s vision and goals,
  • Actively participate in the compliance efforts,
  • Maintain excellent level in terms of communication with Country BUs and related functions,
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

 

  • Own and maintain the Account Reconciliation process complete with any supporting applications,
  • Own and maintain the General Ledger Chart of Accounts,
  • Accomplish all month-end tasks included on schedule in an accurate, timely and professional manner,
  • Identify and propose process improvement initiatives to guarantee the best practice accounting is achieved,
  • Work closely with the Financial Systems & Processes Department to identify possible improvements and implement innovative solutions,
  • Provide input to develop, maintain and implement appropriate accounting policies & procedures,
  • Carry out other duties, tasks assigned related to the functionality of the General Ledger and Accounting Department.

 

Qualification Profile:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced training/certification in a designated accounting program (CA, CMA, or CGA) or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience, in accounting or finance
  • Experience in Multiple Company/Legal Entity Reporting Environment,

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Detailed knowledge of Accounting techniques and processes and attention to detail,
  • Strong familiarity of ERP General Ledger Systems a plus
