Area Quality Control Manager

Reporting to the Division Quality Control Manager, plan and direct quality control programs designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Ensure company, safety and environmental policies are maintained. Develop and implement quality control objectives at all pits, concrete plants and asphalt plants in the Northern Colorado/Laramie, Wyoming business area. Responsible for all day to day supervision of QC staff and activities, including but not limited to: scheduling and training of technicians, calibration and maintenance of QC equipment and facilities, and review and communication of test results. Make sure all necessary material testing is completed, documented into the appropriate QC software, and reviewed/communicated in a timely manner. Assist with and/or troubleshoot production processes, maintain product quality and consistency, and maintain the lowest possible material cost. Coordinate with sales/estimators and operations to establish production targets that consistently meet customer specifications, as well as conduct necessary investigation to resolve any product/customer related issues. Interact frequently, on-site with operations/production groups to resolve process and quality issues. Recommend plant adjustments to maintain or improve product quality as needed. Meet with customers and specifying entities on a regular basis to maintain good relationships and awareness of changes in industry standards. Provide project support for sales/estimators by reviewing plans and specifications prior to project bidding as well as provide required data and documents for material submittals post bid. Perform tasks necessary to act as the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with the Colorado Radioactive Materials License. Develop and evaluate mix blends for concrete and asphalt mix designs. Review lab design data and look for areas of optimization of mix blends.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; Engineering preferred
  • Recent CO/WY Professional Engineer or ability to get within 1 year
  • 3 - 7 years of industry experience; 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Experience with CDOT/WyDOT regulations
  • Safety-minded, team-oriented and customer-focused
  • Detail and technically oriented individual; ability to read and understand technical plans and specifications
  • Self-motivated and able to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management skills; good planning skills; able to multi-task
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • CAPA, ACI, RSO certifications required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Long hours, weekend and/or night work possible
  • Able to work in outdoor setting under varying weather conditions
