Working in the corporate office, prepare, review and file sales and use tax returns and payments. Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations, provide sales and use tax audit and special projects support, respond to notices and questions from company personnel, develop and maintain efficient compliance processes and research tax compliance issues with respect to purchasing decisions and advise company personnel accordingly. Provide analytical and technical support as needed to implement tax savings opportunities, review and advise regarding tax adjustments for customers, and review sales tax exemption certificates and other supporting documentation received from customers as requested by operating personnel. Support and test accounting systems changes that impact sales tax decisions/reporting and apply for and maintain all sales and use tax registrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related field or equivalent experience required
- Construction contractor law background as it relates to tax preferred
- 5-7 years experience in multi-state sales and use tax in a corporate environment
- Ability to research, interpret and analyze technical material
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external associates
- Positive attitude; proactive professional
- Working knowledge of Vertex and JD Edwards or similar ERP system
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
