Position Summary:

 

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for leading the planning, enhancement analysis, deployment, management and support of Gypsum country applications (Marketing, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and Reporting). The Business Analyst will serve as an expert in Gypsum business requirements and will lead the gathering of business requirements and develop the functional specifications. Working together with the Americas Applications Service Center team, he/she will lead development, testing and rollout activities for implementations. The Business Analyst will fulfill the role of project manager for the implementation of system enhancements requests. He/she will be responsible for support and resolution of application issues raised by users or identified as process deficiencies in the Marketing, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and Reporting applications for the Gypsum business.  He/she will also work with offsite support and consulting staff to communicate business requirements and to coordinate the testing, acceptance and promotion of system enhancements and fixes.

Key Responsibilities                                                              Results/Accountabilities

Analyze and resolve business issues involving the effective use the Marketing, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and Reporting applications.

Develop and maintain a supportive and professional relationship with Business Process Owners to facilitate cooperation and problem resolution.

Conduct business process needs analysis to formulate, define and document system requirements. Creates detailed functional design specifications within the constraints of providing sound operation of the Marketing, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and reporting applications and IT development standards.

Works closely with Gypsum IS/IT Director and application owners to establish priorities of the demands.

Maintain an overall understanding and documentation of the Country Application Architecture and Roadmap.

Determines and resolves application set up to meet business requirements or resolve processing difficulties.

Assists in the development of the three year IT Plan and Capital appropriaton requests as required.

Ensures budget and timelines are respected.

Act as Service Owner for Gypsum Application Services.

Develop and deliver training and presentations.

Chair user groups with module owners.

Coach and train consulting staff in the process of supporting, problem resolution and communication with business users.

Execute and monitor all respective internal controls, ensuring efficient/ effective activities that support organizational objectives, while adhering to applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Travel requirement: 10%

Ensure the Marketing, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and Reporting applications operate reliably and effectively as per Service Level Objectives.

Ensure that all system modification and enhancement designs are compliant with Lafarge development standards, and will function reliably and efficiently according to the business requirements.

Lead and manages small projects and enhancements to ensure that they are properly prioritized, are completed on time and within budget and meet the design specifications.

Ensure that all appropriate training programs and documentation are in place to support new or changing applications.

Lead business users to effectively test and accept system enhancements and manage the promotion process for these enhancements.

Adhere to Lafarge IT processes, including incident management, change management and demand management.

Adhere to the Lafarge Project Management methodology and principles – PEAK (what if they’ve never been to PEAK training?).

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.

Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace and demonstrating support to organizational safety initiatives.

 

Relationships with Others Jobs:

  • Work in partnership with the Business Owners as well as with the other Americas Applications Service Center Business Analysts when defining user needs and change requests.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with other Business Analysts.
  • Work along side the Business Owners and Applications Manager when defining requirements, providing estimates on demand requests and prioritizing work.
  • Work with US Country and Americas Infrastructure Support team and appropriate Americas Applications Service Center Application Architects so that system reliability and effectiveness is maximized.
  • Use knowledge of business processes and system solutions to lead technical discussions with the User Groups ensuring the most appropriate IT solution is provided (not simply what is requested).
  • Where training personnel are involved, partner with them to ensure users obtain appropriate documentation and guidance.

 

Qualification Profile:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Degree in computer science, information technology, business systems or a related discipline preferred.
  • 7+ years overall IT experience required.
  • 3-5 years of Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain and CRM applications support experience.
  • 3-5 years of successful Business Analyst experience, handling complex system and business needs.
  • Prior experience in business analysis following IIBA standards would be an asset.
  • Prior experience in project management following PMI standards would be an asset.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Fact finder, analytical, and excellent problem solver.
  • Experience leading small and medium projects.
  • Demonstrated functional knowledge in sales and marketing and customer orientation and ability to deliver solutions for customers.
  • Strong verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to organize and document issues and solutions.
  • Good presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of end users.
  • Analysis and development of technical specification documents.

Technology-Specific Requirements:

  • 3-5 years practical configuration experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, specifically with the sales distribution modules of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
  • Experience with Cognos BI.
  • Experience with CRM applications.
  • Experience with EDI applications.
