Objective:
To coordinate the marine transportation of materials in the most efficient and profitable manner and to promote Customer Service and Relations.
Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to achieve efficiencies of operations and other critical revenue objectives for the market area while ensuring our offering promotes service and value for our customers. Work with the Marine team to establish Marine sales and customer service & logistics strategies for the local market area. This individual attempts to maximize profitability by continuing a strategy to optimize operations, understand customer requirements, optimize pit balance, utilize zones of natural advantage, enhance key customer relationships, and embrace best practice sales and operational management tools and frameworks.
The Marine Coordinator works closely with aggregates operations management and materials performance personnel to ensure effective sales and operations planning, management of costs and inventory levels and make certain the highest quality of products and services are received by the customer.
Responsibilities:
Customer Focus: Provides customer focus for the Marine team. Reinforces the needs of the customers. Continuously develops offerings to differentiate Lafarge as the supplier of choice. Assists team in building solid relationships with key existing and potential customers.
Product Line Coordination: Work closely with other relevant Lafarge product lines (i.e. ready mix, asphalt and paving) to ensure there is a consistent and effective offering to the customer and all potential synergies are maximized.
Strategic Planning Coordination: Assist in the coordinating for the completion of the Strategic Framework and related action plans for the market area. This is done annually in association with the rest of the area management and sales team. Ensure market intelligence is effectively collected, analyzed and stored.
Sales and Expense Forecasting: Completes effective monthly sales forecasts for the management team. Control daily operating costs and review and analyze monthly revenue and expenses. Maintain and analyze job cost database. Provide quotations for specialized marine based transportation.
Customer Service and Logistics: Understand all Customer needs and requirements. Provide Logistical support to major accounts. Be familiar with Marine and land based Logistics. Work with the Maintenance group to schedule equipment maintenance in an efficient and cost effective manner
Budgeting: Aid in preparing annual budgets and business plans. with sound strategy/rationale.
Human Resources: Assists in the Selection, hiring, training and termination as required.
Administration : Schedule day to day Marine operations and work schedules. Be familiar with daily administration functions including payroll, AR/AP. Complete Customs declarations, monitor lay day dispositions.
Operational Duties: Dispatch Marine equipment that works 24/7, Provide relief to other Marine salaried staff. Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Profile
Education:

Post Secondary diploma or degree in a related field (Business or Logistics) or the equivalent of education and experience
Experience and Skill Set:

Minimum of 3 –5 years of Marine/Aggregate logistics

Knowledgeable of land and marine based operations.

Strong communication (written, verbal, and listening skills) and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop existing customer base.

Knowledgeable about aggregate production to include materials, aggregate plants, and loadout is helpful, but not required.
