Plant Manager – Aggregates – Multiple Locations
Overview:
Company seeks a Plant Manager to be responsible for the management & all aspects of the operations. Lead and manage all safety efforts at the plant as well as site planning, pit development, quality control, rail load out facility and maintenance functions. Additional responsibilities include asset protection, financial evaluation, budgeting and cost control, environmental, personnel and community/railroad relations duties. Ensure compliance with company mandated safety and environmental policies, programs and guidelines as well as regulatory compliance. Lead a management team and group of employees and provide strong leadership, training, team building and supervision.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that equipment and processes meet or exceed the MSHA, OSHA and Company’s guidelines.
  • Pursues a culture of safety that is world class with an objective of “zero”. Actively engages with the workforce to reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Establishes the environment as a priority at the site.
  • Ensures regulations are met or exceeded by following Company’s best practices.
  • Provides direct oversight in the extraction, processing, storage, and shipping of aggregates at the site.
  • Embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure plant activities are optimized and costs are best in class.
  • Effectively utilizes Company’s maintenance programs to maximize plant up-time and manage costs.
  • Promotes a culture of performance.
  • Effectively utilizes KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations.
  • Understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers.
  • Utilizes best practices in extraction, processing, stockpiling, stock-pile reclamation and re-handling to ensure product remains within target specifications as it is received by our customers.
  • Uses available reports effectively to measure quality, identify variances and establish corrective action.
  • Develops operational and capital plans for the plant to continuously improve productivity and maintain costs as low or lower than our competition.
  • Prepares budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepares rolling 12 month production forecasts monthly and works closely with sales and customer service personnel to optimize production, sales and inventory levels.
  • Assists in the creation of Mine Plans and ensures they are closely followed/executed (i.e. overburden removal and placement, extraction, and progressive rehabilitation/reclamation).
  • Prepares Winter Shutdown schedules and executes accordingly.
  • Works with district/division team to identify necessary sustaining and development capital according to Company’s best practices.
  • Assists in preparing CERs (Capital Expenditure Requests) and assists in installation/construction as required.
  • Plant image includes housekeeping, parts storage, vehicles and equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance & property, and buildings.
  • Supervises the workforce, typically through plant foreman and/or lead-hands.

Company seeks an Operations Manager to be responsible for operating multiple quarries in a safe, productive & effective manner. The right candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day direction to the Superintendents & Supervisors of designated stone quarries.
Responsibilities:
  • Build a positive and proactive safety culture at each of your assigned quarries.
  • Review plant production data to identify deviations from previous and expected performance.
  • Review financial and cost information from assigned quarry operations and follow up with Superintendents to obtain information and explanation.
  • Evaluate mine plans
  • Evaluate new technologies, recommend the purchase of new equipment, and negotiate associated purchase transactions.
  • Monitor safety training activities to ensure acceptable performance.
  • Participate in safety training and safety issue resolution.
  • The ability to conduct training and perform demonstrations of proper operational techniques.
  • Investigate accidents, determine root causes, and provide associated on-the-job training, instruction or correction, where needed.
  • The ability to oversee and implement proactive plant and equipment maintenance programs.
  • Develop strong communication with Sales Department to ensure decisions are made with the consideration of customer as well as the company.
  • The ability to professionally deal with quarry neighbors and resolve any issues that might arise.
  • Monitor reports on new equipment use and facility maintenance and follow up, as required, to resolve problems or initiate changes in equipment use and maintenance.
  • Provide on-going coaching, training, and mentoring to Superintendents and Supervisors in the quarries, especially on discipline and employee relations issues.
  • Monitor and assess the performance and contributions of assigned personnel, identify and resolve personnel-related problems and issues, and manage associated human resources activities (e.g., performance appraisals, pay adjustments, promotions/transfers, etc.).
  • Perform related responsibilities and special projects as required or assigned.

The primary responsibility will be to direct operations and workforce at the quarries. Overview:
Mid-sized, family owned company seems a Quarry Superintendent to oversee multiple sites. All sites will be located approximately 15+ miles of each other.
Responsibilities:
  • Follow and enforce Mine Safety and Health Administration rules and regulations, working in tandem with the company Safety Engineer.
  • Direct and supervise all production activities, from drilling and blasting, to quality control of the end products.
