Slag cement shipments show continual growth in the U.S.

The Slag Cement Association (SCA) has announced slag cement shipments last year showed a 14% growth over 2016. The company has placed an increased focus on providing the concrete industry tools to showcase the availability of the cement in the United States.

SCA added its slag cement locator to its website to provide the industry with an up to date method for finding providers within their local area. It allows visitors to select a state and view the contact information for regional distributors.

Ed Griffith, President, SCA, said: “As consumers are becoming more aware of the variety of benefits and applications associated with slag cement use in construction, they also start to rely on its consistency. The reliability of the product seems to go over well with the industry, it’s nice to see the shipping trends reflect this industry awareness.”

Last year, SCA reported that 2016 shipments grew 12 percent over 2015.
