ACI's fourth edition of Contractor's Guide to Quality Concrete Construction

December 17, 2018

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) will release the fourth edition of the Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction. The manual covers proven practices to produce quality concrete construction.

The guide includes planning for quality, concrete mixtures, specifications, foundations, formwork, reinforcement and embedments in structures, joints and reinforcement for slabs-on-ground, preparing for concreting, concrete placing and finishing, common field problems and safety and legal issues.

ACI says the document includes more than 100 pages than the previous edition. It features full-colour photos and illustrations, 43 Position Statements from ASCC on ACI’s Certification programmes as well as an appendix which introduces several legal issues of interest to concrete contractors. A summary, review questions, and additional recommended reading list accompany each of the 12 chapters.

The guide is intended for readers with all levels of experience and is available in print and digital formats. An English version will be available in January 2019 with a Spanish version is scheduled to follow.
