Aggregates USA gets OK for Blountville quarry expansion

Aggregates USA has approval for its plan to expand its quarry off of Centenary Road in Blountville, Tennessee, near Tri-Cities Airport.

The Sullivan County Commission unanimously approved the plan this week.

Aggregates USA said the expansion is necessary because the quarry has ten years life left. The expansion would give the quarry an additional five years.

The board also approved a surety bond should Aggregates USA go out of business or vacate the property unexpectedly.

Approval was made despite opposition from a neigbouring property owner.
