Aggregate Industries (AI) is expected to provide 250,000 cubic yards of ready-mix concrete to extend the Southwest Light Rail Transit Metro Green Line in Minneapolis.
The $2 billion project is anticipated to increase employment by 18% and population by 56% in the area within a half mile of the stations.
The line will run 14.5-mile extension line will run from downtown Minneapolis to the suburb of Eden Prairie and require the construction of 16 stations and rail infrastructure.
AI will use Chronolia High-Early Strength Concrete and Artevia Decorative Concrete for the construction of 44 structures and 29 new bridges (including a cast in place box girder bridge). Also, the deal includes the development of two cut and cover tunnels, six pedestrian tunnels, 15 at-grade crossings,110 retaining walls, and 153,440 feet of track.
