This is the first EPD obtained by any manufacturer of any product in New Zealand, the first for any concrete producer in Australasia, and was prepared in accordance with ISO 14025:2006 and EN 15804:2013. This was also one of the first EPDs registered that used the EN 15804:2013 Standard.
The EPD was based on data derived from the 2013 calendar year, and is valid for a period of 5 years and covers production from 26 plants.
The EPD is registered with The International EPD System c/o Swedish Environmental Management Council Vasagaten 15-17, SE-111 20 Stockholm, and can be seen on their web site www.environdec.com.
This EPD is part of Allied Concrete’s continuing sustainability programme that has seen the company investigate and use recycled returned concrete as a reprocessed aggregate, crushed recycled glass as a partial sand replacement, and (at the end of September)the use of recycled paint as an admixture in its concrete at selected locations throughout New Zealand.
This EPD was also recognised by the New Zealand Ready Mixed Concrete Association as part of its 2014 Awards programme.
