Argentinian cement sales down by a third in May 2020 says AFCP

Cement sales dropped 32.8% year-on-year to 648,543 tonnes in Argentina in May 2020.

The country’s capital city was especially badly hit.

Mainly because of Covid-19 restrictions, sales dropped 79.9% in the Buenos Aires area.

In the first five months of 2020 cement sales only rose in three regions: Catamarca, Corrientes and Santa Cruz … by 18.2%, 2.7% and 0.2% respectively.

The figures come from local trade body, the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (Portland Cement Manufacturers Association) which dates back to 1922.
