(Nashville, Tennessee) — A rock quarry in Bellevue has become the focus of a zoning battle. Not everyone agrees about what should be done with the land.The 17-acre quarry is on the southeast corner of McCrory Lane and Highway 70.A development company wants the Metro Planning Commission to allow the quarry section of the property to be split from the rest of the land.McCrory Lane Partners hopes to build a 180-unit residential development on land next to the quarry.The Harpeth Watershed Association fears proposals to fill in the quarry could have a negative impact on water quality.The Metro Planning Commission meeting report said others fear the open quarry could pose a danger to the public.Public discussion on the rezoning will take place Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Howard Building in Downtown Nashville.
