Body found in Quarry

Body found in QuarrySheriff’s office working to identify person(MARION, Ohio) — Investigators for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office blocked off roads south of Marion this morning after receiving a report of a body floating in the quarry there. Chief Deputy Al Hayden said the office received a call at 7:30 a.m. today reporting a body had been spotted in the water in the quarry west of Gooding Road at Owens Road. At press time today, the sheriff’s office and other safety personnel were on the scene to remove the body and make identification. The scene has been cordoned off for law enforcement officials to complete the investigation and no information was available from officers on the scene as to the person’s identity. Authorities could not confirm as of press time whether the body was that of a man reported missing in the area earlier this month. Sheriff’s officials, dive teams and three Ohio Search dogs searched the same area at Quarry Estates on at least two occasions earlier this month in efforts to determine if a Marion man, reported missing on Sept. 3, might have drowned in the quarry. Perry Joseph Davelli, 32, 1823 Greenway Drive, was reported missing after he did not show up for work at Marion County Job & Family Services. The sheriff’s office received a call of a suspicious car on a cul de sac on Lighthouse Ridge in southern Marion Township. Officers were able to identify the vehicle as belonging to Davelli, but investigations had not been able to determine his whereabouts and he had contacted no family members since reported missing.
