Buzzi Unicem USA is to build a $7 million rail terminal at Temple, Texas.
The terminal will be Buzzi Unicem USA’s 34th cement distribution location. It will be built on a 9-acre tract in the Temple Industrial Park located near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Loop 363.
As part of the project, Buzzi Unicem USA will add a rail spur that will branch from the main rail line in Temple. Construction on the line will begin immediately and is expected to be complete in late 2015.
“Temple is the ideal location for our company because it is a business-friendly city in the middle of one of our largest target markets,” Richard A Sutter, the company’s senior vice president of sales, said in a news release. “Our new, central location in Temple will enable us to effectively and efficiently serve the large state of Texas.”
The city of Temple and Buzzi Unicem will share in infrastructure costs for the construction of a road to access the industrial park, which will also open up over 75 acres to future development, according to Charley Ayres, vice president of the Temple Economic Development Corp.
Dunn called the addition of the industrial park road a “win-win” for the city, and “another bonus for the economic development of the area.”
The project is due to complete early 2016.
