The Calvert City Board of Zoning Adjustment is hosting a special called meeting receive comments from the public on an application filed by James Bailey with Calvert City Quarry, today at 5:30pm. According to a report by The Lake News: “Mr. Bailey is seeking a conditional use permit to open a rock quarry inside the city limits at a location adjacent to Rail Services.”
The report says, in a previous meeting, the board were provided information from experts who explained how rock quarries operate and the potential effects on ground water.
According to the article: “The Board has held one public hearing on the rock quarry conditional use request but members of the board moved to hold a second public hearing on Tuesday night saying they did not think some residents had heard about the proposal.”
