CDP raises HeidelbergCement rating in climate action to A

February 10, 2020

CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) has raised HeidelbergCement's rating from A- to A for its commitment to climate action.

CDP assesses performance, transparency and management best practices from companies in the fields of climate change, allocating scores A to D-. The international nonprofit organisation seeks to promote competition in sustainability and encourage companies to set ambitious environmental protection targets.

Dr. Bernd Scheifele, chairman of the managing board of HeidelbergCement, says: “After our ambitious CO2 reduction targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2019, this prime rating once again demonstrates that HeidelbergCement is on the right track in terms of climate action. Cutting our CO2 emissions and handling natural resources considerately are priorities for all our business lines.”

In 2019, around 8,000 companies disclosed data to CDP.
