Cement plant worker falls to his death in South Carolina

December 9, 2019

A worker has died after falling from a tower at Holcim Cement plant in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, says Associated Press.

Authorities told media outlets that employees heard a loud thud around 8:45 am on Tuesday and found the worker unconscious in a pool of blood.

Orangeburg County said the worker appears to have fallen from the fourth floor tower down to the third floor.

Orangeburg County chief deputy coroner Sean Fogle concluded that Lennox Wishart Hinckson, 65, died at the scene.

Investigators were seeking to establish the cause of death but ruled it accidental, Fogle added in a statement.

Plant owner LafargeHolcim confirmed that the victim worked for a third-party contractor and the company was working with the Mine Safety and Health Administration to continue investigating the cause of death.
