Cemex expansion plan in Ohio to go ahead

Cemex plan to expand operations in Fairborn, Ohio will go ahead without Fairborn voters having a say.
The Greene County Board of Elections made the ruling Tuesday. In August 2015, Fairborn City Council approved a re-zoning of the Cemex property from “agricultural” to “mining”.

A group of citizens that were concerned about the environmental issues started a petition to get the issue on the ballot, but the board ruled some of the signatures on the petition were not valid, and therefore, the referendum cannot be put to a vote.

In September last year Cemex said it “is a proud to be a part of the Fairborn community since 1924. We have 125 local employees and are looking forward to continuing to build the future of Fairborn and the greater Ohio region.”
