Cemex participates in expansion of BMW research centre, Germany

October 19, 2018

Cemex has used a mobile on-site mixing plant to supply over 105,000 cubic metres of concrete to expand BMW's research and innovation centre in Munich, Germany.

The company says the mobile plant allows for shorter transportation routes, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and traffic congestion around the construction site.

Uwe Lange, director key accounts materials central Europe of Cemex, says: “Our on-site mixing plants enable us to ensure targeted economic concrete supply for large construction sites, while offering the same quality and range of materials as in our fixed concrete plants.”

According to Cemex, a twin-shaft compulsory mixer allowed the company to supply approximately 90 cubic metres of concrete per hour.

The new building will host around 5,000 employees who will develop hardware and software for the company’s future vehicles. The project has a gross floor area of more than 150,000 square metres.
