Cemex recognized for conservation excellence

The Wildlife Habitat Council has awarded Cemex the councils’s highest recognition for Cemex’s conservation efforts in Mexico and the El Carmen ecological reserve.

El Carmen also received the 2016 Gold Tier Program of the Year for its biodiversity protection projects.

Cemex’s conservation programs at the Atotonilco Cement Plant in Mexico earned the WHC’s Awareness and Community Engagement Project Award. In addition to the WHC’s Gold Tier Program of the Year, El Carmen also received the Species of Concern Project Award, the Mammals Project Award, the Desert Project Award, and the Forest Project Award.

“Thanks to organizations such as the Wildlife Habitat Council, biodiversity conservation is gaining increasing importance, and we are proud to achieve this recognition,” said Fernando A Gonzalez, chief executive, Cemex. “These awards foster our commitment to build a better future by underscoring our efforts to preserve nature.”
