Chaney Enterprises adds CarbonCure to portfolio of sustainable products

August 2, 2018

Ready-mix concrete company Chaney Enterprises is using CarbonCure’s technology in a bid to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete at its Waldorf plant.

CarbonCure says the technology injects recycled carbon dioxide into ready-mix concrete during mixing which becomes chemically transforms into a mineral embedded within the concrete. The technology was applied during December 2017 and has reportedly improved the concrete’s compressive strength and allowed Chaney to reduce its cement content while maintaining compressive strength requirements.

Jeff Slagle, concrete operations manager, at Chaney, says: “Partnering with CarbonCure allows us to help our customers reduce the carbon footprint of their building developments while continuing to provide the high-quality concrete and high-calibre service they expect from us.”

Chaney operates 18 ready mix plants serving Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington DC.
