Chicago teacher drowns while scuba diving in quarry (KANKAKEE, Ill.) A Chicago Heights man is dead after a scuba diving accident in a quarry near Kankakee.Ken McCabe of the Kankakee County sheriff’s department says 58-year-old Robert Kusler died while diving with friends Saturday at a former limestone mining site (called Haigh Quarry, located about 60 miles south of Chicago).McCabe says Kusler lost contact with his diving partner, who later found him floating nearby.Investigators are trying to determine a cause of death, but the county coroner has ruled out a heart attack.Kusler was a chemistry teacher at Washington High School on Chicago’s southeast side.
