Fire at Holcim plant in South Carolina

(South Carolina) — The Holcim cement plant near Holly Hill was hit by a fire on late Friday afternoon. It appears that the source of the fire was the pre-heater tower in the cement plant.

Several area fire departments rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control.

Orangeburg County emergency dispatch termed the incident as “a structure fire at 200 Safety St. where the pre-heater tower is located.”

Holcim officials have announced that the company would issue a statement about the fire at a later time.

Company officials did not report any injuries caused to any individual as a result of the fire.
