Fire crews battle Argos Cement fire in Martinsburg

Multiple fire crew units battled a commercial structure fire at Argos Cement on 1826 S. Queen Street, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, according to a report by The Journal.

Argos is a large cement producer operating in North, Central and South America.

The Berkeley County Central Dispatch said a call came in at 3:51pm after a citizen reported what he believed to be an explosion.

The 167th Air National Guard along with Martinsburg, South Berkeley, Bedington, Baker Heights, Washington County, Jefferson County and Back Creek Valley fire departments arrived at the scene.

According to the Eastern Panhandle Working Fires Facebook page, residents were reporting loud explosions which shook their houses.

Dispatch said the fire was under control around 6:44 pm but officials did not leave the scene until after 8:00 pm.

There were no reported injuries, dispatch added.
