Granite awarded £22m highway contract in California

Granite Construction has won a $22 million contract for the Highway 1 from North Aptos Underpass to Junction Route 9 project in Santa Cruz, California.

The deal stems from an agreement with the California Department of Transportation will be included in Granite’s first quarter 2019 backlog.

Granite will replace the old metal beam guard railing with new concrete barriers, installation of new overhead sign structures, repair of the overcrossing deck surfaces, and repaving of the highway with rubberized asphalt.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2019 and be complete in December 2019.
