GuardTop buys asphalt sealcoat maker from Blacklidge Emulsion

GuardTop, a division of Tucson-based Western Emulsions has acquired a regional asphalt sealcoat manufacturing facility from a former licensee, Blacklidge Emulsions and will now directly market its GuardTop products in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

GuardTop is an environmentally friendly asphalt sealcoat product for commercial and residential parking lots and roads in the Southwestern United States, where its other manufacturing facilities are based.

The GuardTop product formula offers a premium quality, non-hazardous alternative to parking lot sealcoat products containing coal tar, a substance linked to health risks in recent studies.

Jeff Luzar, division manager, GuardTop says: “The acquisition of the Rockmart, GA facility marks an important phase in the expansion of the GuardTop brand. The market is hungry for an alternative to coal tar based products. With its high durability and longevity, GuardTop will satisfy this niche in the asphalt sealcoat market.”
