Komatsu’s new WA470-8 loader was introduced late in June and features a new Tier 4 Final Komatsu SAA6D125E-7 engine.
The new engine has selective catalytic reduction while also featuring auto-idle shutdown, electronic control systems, fuel injection combustion parameters, and after treatment functions.
“The WA470-8 has an outstanding combination of stability, break out power and tractive effort,” said Rob McMahon, Komatsu America product manager.
“Whether you’re moving gravel, transporting pipe, charging hoppers or working with landscape materials or aggregates, the WA470-8 is the machine you want on your worksite.
Available machine attachments specifically adapted for logging and waste handling applications extend the machine’s versatility,” McMahon said.
The new parameters all add up to see a decrease in fuel consumption of 6% over the previous WA470-7 model. Exhaust gas recirculation is also featured, and allows for better temperature and air management control.
Beyond the improved fuel economy other features include a sight gauge at the diesel fill cap in order to minimize overfilling, a color display featuring ecology guidance, and a telematics system which allows for fuel and diesel monitoring.
