Komatsu unveils Centre of Excellence for autonomous haulage systems

Komatsu has launched a global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for autonomous haulage systems (AHS) in a bid to respond faster to customers’ needs. The company’s CoE team in Arizona will be responsible for the strategy, planning, marketing, sales suppor, training and bringing together exprts from across the company.  

Jim Nishiura, vice president global mining business division at Komatsu, describes the move as a “major step forward” for the company’s unified approach to mining.

“Our diversified FrontRunner AHS team is united by common goals, workflows and strategies to deliver maximum value to our customers as well as our customer-facing teams and distributors,” Nishiura adds.

Shingo Hori, currently AHS group manager, and Anthony Cook, currently vice president AHS and communications for modular mining, have been appointed as co-general managers of the CoE.

The company says the organisational changes are part of a strategy to continually improve performance and deliver better value to customers.
