Large cache of explosives seized at quarry, one held Mumbai, India — Crime Branch of Mumbai police on Tuesday night seized a huge quantity of explosives from the premises of a quarry owner in Thane district.The seizure includes 557 electric detonators, 238 ordinary detonators, 264 metres of waterproof wires, 35 gelatine sticks and approximately 185 kg of ammonium nitrate. The police also recovered five gelatine sticks and six detonators dumped in a plastic bag outside a BEST bus depot in Borivil (east).The police arrested Vidyadhar Koli, manager at Dhakery Stone Crushing Company at Nagla Bunder in Thane in this connection and are looking for the company’s owner, Munesh Thakur.Police officers say they are probing whether the company had supplied explosives to terrorists who carried out a series of blasts in the city. Koli has been arrested after he failed to show the required licence to store such a huge quantity of explosives.
