Luck Stone Acquires Bull Run Stone Facility June 24, 2002 09:36 AM RICHMOND, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 24, 2002–Luck Stone today announced that it acquired the assets of Bull Run Stone Company in Loudoun County, Va. This acquisition expands Luck Stone’s presence in the Northern Virginia market to complement its existing locations and serve the market more effectively. The Bull Run site will increase Luck Stone’s geographic reach to include 19 sites statewide and provide customers greater access to Luck Stone’s resources. Further, this move will enhance the company’s long-term competitive position by expanding its geographic reach and providing ample future product reserves for Luck Stone. Luck Stone is excited to expand its presence in Loudoun County, the second fastest growing county in the United States, said Charlie Luck IV, president and CEO of Luck Stone. We have been operating in Northern Virginia since 1938, and as we continue to grow and strengthen our presence in Northern Virginia, our customers and associates will benefit from this expanded reach. The new site positions Luck Stone to more effectively serve the Northern Virginia market west toward Gainesville and Warrenton and north toward Leesburg. The operation also supplements Luck Stone’s Fairfax, Leesburg and Goose Creek locations. The Bolling family has owned Bull Run Stone for two generations, over which time it maintained a friendly business relationship with the Luck family. Nineteen Bull Run associates currently work at the site in Loudoun County. We feel good about the sale to Luck Stone, said Philip Bolling, president of Bull Run Stone Company. Luck Stone’s culture is similar to that of our company, and it delivers the same respect, quality and environmental stewardship to customers and associates that we committed ourselves to in 47 years of business. Luck Stone also announced last month an asset purchase agreement with Martin Marietta in which Luck Stone acquired Martin Marietta’s sites in Spotsylvania and Culpeper, Va., and Martin Marietta acquired Luck Stone’s Burlington, N.C. site.
