Man crushed by milling machinceNEWARK, N.J. — A worker involved in a paving project at Newark Liberty International Airport died after being crushed by a piece of construction equipment.The unidentified victim was working on Taxiway Z, which is parallel to the shortest of the airport’s three runways, when the accident occurred around noon Tuesday, authorities said. He was working alongside a milling machine, which was being used to tear up asphalt or concrete, when it tipped over and crushed him.The man was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.Pasquale DiFulco, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, said the man worked for Crisdel Group Inc. of South Plainfield. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.
