Construction materials supplier MDU Resources, headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota, is donating $500,000 to a variety of organisations to support coronavirus relief efforts.

MDU Resources CEO David L. Goodin, says: "We know it will take some time for our country to recover from this adversity, and we want to do our part to help.

"In addition to monetary support from our corporation, our employees are dedicated to ensuring we continue to serve our customers with the electricity, natural gas and energy and transportation infrastructure that are essential for daily life."

The donation comes from the MDU Resources Foundation and follows a $2.2 million pledge to charitable organisations this year.

Additionally, the foundation is accelerating 2020 grant payments that were previously identified for food banks, shelters and elderly support.

The company describes itself as: "A provider of essential products and services through our two lines of business: regulated energy delivery and construction materials and services.

"Our company was founded in 1924 as a small electric utility serving a handful of farm communities on the border of Montana and North Dakota.

"Today, MDU Resources is a multibillion-dollar corporation with operations, customers and employees across the country.

"We have more than 13,000 employees during peak construction season and are authorized to conduct business in 44 states."
