MDU Resources has confirmed David Sparby has joined the board of directors and its audit committee. The move is part of a growth strategy which includes a $1.5bn investment over the next five years.
Sparby retired in December 2014 from his position as senior vice president, Revenue Group, at Xcel Energy and president and CEO of its subsidiary Northern States Power-Minnesota. He held a range of positions such as chief financial officer while at Xcel Energy, and its predecessor Northern States Power after joining the company in 1980.
He led four operating companies during his time with Xcel including Northern States Power Minnesota, Northern States Power Wisconsin, Southwest Public Service and Public Service Company of Colorado.
