Metso is this week unveiling the MX3 cone crusher

448 Metso is staging the global introduction of the MX3 multi-action cone crusher – the ‘little brother’ of the up to 600tonnes/hour capacity MX4, released in 2017.

The MX3 has been designed to enable improved crusher productivity and lower operating costs with a design optimised especially for mid-sized quarrying.

“Our customers are constantly looking to improve their operational efficiency and to optimise yield for the most desired product fraction. With MX multi-action technology, we can help our customers to achieve these targets,” said Arto Halonen, vice president of crushers, aggregates business area at Metso.

“After successfully introducing MX4 to the market, we are excited to launch the MX3 model, so that an even wider range of aggregate producers can benefit from the unique advantages MX and Metso can offer,”

According to Metso, MX multi-action technology enables cost-effective and safe operations with a high reduction ratio, great product shape and consistency, all of which are critical in aggregate applications. The patented technology enables higher uptime and savings in the operational costs of crushing operations. With the selective production features the MX solution offers, crusher production can be optimised to maximise the yield of desired fractions. Crusher operations are said to have been made easy and safe with advanced Metso IC series automation.

With a 420tonnes/hour material processing capacity, the Metso MX3 is suitable for secondary, tertiary and quaternary crushing stages. Designed for both hard and soft rock applications, the new Metso MX3 will be first available for stationary solutions.

Since its introduction in 2017, the MX4 cone crusher has proven itself at various customer sites around the world. Multiple MX3 pre-launch units are already in operation, and now MX3 has been made available for wider public.

“The MX4 has met our expectations and delivered instantaneous flow rate as well as improved crushing energy efficiency. We have also been piloting the MX3 on the quaternary stage since April 2018 and we are fully satisfied with its performance and plan to continue with it,” said Mathieu Kasprzak, director of operations at Durance Granulats in France.
