New Enterprise Stone and Lime expands PA quarry

New Enterprise Stone and Lime has received approval to expand its quarry in Harrisburg, despite opposition from some residents.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection granted New Enterprise Stone and Lime a permit to dig deeper and use more water.

Some of the quarry’s neighbors attended a meeting last week to express their concerns about the plan. They said they’re afraid the digging could cause their wells to go dry.

The quarry said it would supply water to anyone who affected by the digging.
